Be A Nelson Movement (BaN)

Established in 2019, the Be a Nelson Movement is a direct result of the research of the Long Walk for the Entrepreneurial Mindset project. This Movement, inspired by the mindset of Nelson Mandela, the former South African president, aims to lead with forgiveness and hope.

Following on from one of Mr. Mandela’s biggest goals, the objective of the movement is to empower youth with the potential to shift from a survival mindset to one of action and independence, enabling them to have a positive impact on their communities.

The inaugural members of the Be a Nelson Movement are young leaders with whom Nico met during the LONG WALK through the townships of South Africa. They embody strength of mind and an I can! attitude.

The Be a Nelson Movement provides access to tools that foster the development of social entrepreneurial skills, including:

  • ACCESS to EDUCATION
  • A global NETWORK of MENTORS and COACHES
  • EXPERIENCE and EXPOSURE on local and global levels

The Nelsons, in turn, transmit the knowledge they gain to their communities and thus inspire more to adopt a new mindset.
